SYNOPSIS
Adapted for the stage from André Carl van der Merwe’s novel, MOFFIE follows seventeen-year-old Nicholas van der Swart, conscripted into the South African Defence Force at the height of apartheid’s military regime. Surrounded by brute masculinity, racism and bigotry, he must survive both the violence of the Border War and the daily fear of being outed. Kai Luke Brümmer reprises the role he played in the 2019 feature film, in a production about the cost of conformity, the weight of shame and the courage it takes to defy expectation.
